If you follow me on Instagram (@avizastyle) you may have seen this outfit a few weeks/months back.

This outfit is a fool-proof put together look for days some of our big bosses come into our office.

Most things I own in my closet are interchangeable between the office and after hours (minus my crop tops!) so my normal process of getting dressed in the morning is pretty easy and simple because almost anything works together!

 This outfit is a prime example of how I spend less than one minute thinking about what I will wear to work but it looks like I may have done a few wardrobe changes before finally deciding upon this fun ensemble.

These printed pants are just a chic alternative to normal solid work pants (last worn here).

I mean sometimes we just need a fun print to put some pep in our step to get us through a gloomy Tuesday.

Then the blazer.

I've sported this blazer a few times (here and here) on the blog for the short amount of time I've actually owned it.

The reason for this is because I am obsessed with the navy double breasted style which I blame on the  the classic preppy style in me.

It really makes an outfit look pulled together so easily that I don't know what I wore in its place prior to adding it to my blazer collection.

The radio silence has been broken guys!

Sorry for my mini break but sometimes you just need a little rest and relaxation.

After a few weeks of minimal social media and blog updates I am back at it with lots of stuff for you guys because I haven't just been laying in bed binge-ing on Netflix.

I have a few outfits from weeks past but I am going to jump out of order and share this particular outfit from this past Saturday.

I was at the gorgeous Stone Tower Winery in Loudon County Virginia (also in this post here) with two of my best friends. 

Stone Tower not only offers amazing views (check out this insta I snapped) but it is also kid friendly, pet friendly, and you are also able to bring outside food.

 So we were able to bring a few four legged friends along to enjoy the gorgeous weather and devour a long or two of goat cheese and other Trader Joe's snacks.

I have been trying to tie this longer vest into as many outfits as possible and it did come in handy at the windy winery.

This dress has been hiding in my closet since this post here which doesn't get as much love as it should because where can't you wear good swing dress??

off the shoulder.

I am still jumping on the off the shoulder trend bandwagon for as long as I can.

Shopping for tops is really the hardest thing for me.

I am beyond picky and normally tend to gravitate toward similar silhouettes time and time again.

This particular top I had debated on purchasing for some time.

I have a bigger bust and because of that I normally tend to sway away from any type of frill over my chest.

I was pleasantly surprised by the fit of this top that it didn't overly accentuate anything or overwhelm my frame.

The best part about this top?

The loose fit is AWESOME and perfect to eat as much as I want for the fall football festivities that are ahead.

I ended up wearing this outfit this past weekend for my friends casual engagement party in my home town this past weekend.

It was so nice to see all of my oldest friends in one place and celebrating someone from our group finding her person.

This top is perfect for warmer weather but also for those warm fall days.

Fall with Banana Republic.

Fall is here guys!

While it may not feel like fall my favorite season has technically arrived.

Last season, camel coats we a thing. and I totally bought into it here.

This season, camel coats are still a thing and I'm even more obsessed.

If you have followed me for awhile you may have realized that I have quite a collection of fall winter coats (a few of my favorites here and here) and when I spotted the outerwear collection at Banana Republic this season I became beyond excited.

This particular camel coat is such a classic piece and so well made I knew that I had to add it to my already too expansive collection.

When I look for a so called "classic coat" there are 3 things that I look for when shopping around.

1. COLOR

It really doesn't seem like that big of a deal but heavier coats are pricey! 

So when shopping for winter outerwear make sure the color is something that is compatible with the majority of your winter wardrobe.

Ensuring that a heftier price tag item will get its use in your closet make sure it goes with a ton of pieces.

2.FIT

Hard to believe, but sometimes I like a tighter fit to my clothes but outerwear isn't 

really the place to opt for that.

When buying a coat fall/winter piece, always think of that extra layer you may need.

You are most likely going to invest a little bit more on this closet staple so you need to make sure that it will fit in various situations (ie. with or without heavy sweater).

There shouldn't be much of a fit difference between the two.

3. FABRIC

Super important and where my Fashion student study comes in handy.

Fabric makes all the difference and when investing in a coat or any outerwear piece, ensure that it is of a good quality material.

In my opinion, wool jackets are great quality but you have to ensure that the construction is up to par as well.

sunday funday.

The only time I ever get a good Sunday Funday in is when a long weekend happens 

and a bunch of my friends are actually in town at the same time.

This past Labor Day was when those stars aligned and an awesome Sunday Funday occurred.

when more I was pretty excited when most of my friends stayed in town this past holiday weekend.

We started off at brunch at Due South (post to come) in the Navy Yard in DC near Nats Stadium.

WHICH if you haven't been to Navy Yard recently it's such a great neighborhood in the city.

It has such cute places to eat, walk around, and perfect outfit post opportunities.

After brunch, we headed across the street to a microbrewery, Bluejacket, and had a beer.

The sun began to come out and it was a afternoon to sit outside a sip a beer with friends.

Once we finished our beers, our party dwindled down to 3 of us so we headed to Georgetown 

for some more drinks and chatter.

It ended up being the perfect day of drinks and friends that I needed.

On top of the awesome day with friends I finally got to wear my new (and favorite) double breasted blazer from Banana Republic.

It totally makes any outfit more polished and I can't wait for this to be my go-to blazer this season.

the season.

Labor Day weekend in DC gave just a little preview for what is come this season in a few ways.

I had originally planned to go out of town for the weekend but then unforeseen 

events and hurricanes made us alter our plans.

On Saturday we traded boating for Union Market.

We had a lunch at the DC hot spot, had a few oysters at Rappahannock Oyster Bar and 

then grabbed a drink at The Bidwell at the end of the building.

FYI the drinks are normal DC prices BUT they are strong and totally worth it.

FUNNY STORY: My friend noticed an interesting bottle with a snake inside of it and 

asked the bartender about it.

It ended up being a sake from an Korea and was probably the grossest thing I've ever had.

I finally got to wear this dress from The Fifth that has been sitting in my closet for a few months.

I have been loving bodycon dresses for casual outings.

With cooler temps, layering any type of dress with a vest/jacket/bomber really 

adds more outfits to your closet.

I love this hem on this dress it adds a little sass with the asymmetrical hem and the 

denim vest makes sure I keep the casual vibe.

I also broke out my favorite Rag & Bone booties for the first time this season and 

they were just as comfortable as I remembered :)

With the cooler temps I can't wait to be re-wearing this outfit a ton this fall :)

I'm wearing this Kendra Scott necklace backwards to create a lariat type look which is my favorite style at the moment.

one shoulder.

If you follow me on snapchat (@avizacard) or Instagram you would have seen that 

I ventured out to Austin, Texas this past week with my good friend.

I had never been to Texas minus a few headache filled layovers in the Dallas airport so I as very excited to put some new, and more pleasant, experiences in the books.

I hardly mentioned the trip to anyone so I hadn't built up too much excitement in my head on what I was going to be doing/seeing/eating so going into the weekend with no expectations was so nice and Austin was so fun!

I will be doing a little recap of all of that next week.

This dress form MINKPINK was a last minute purchase via Amazon Prime and luckily 

was delivered just in time to make the trip to Texas with me.

It traveled well - it was a little wrinkled but you couldn't tell much while wearing it.

I love the asymmetrical hemline and how it is parallel to the one shoulder detail.

The floral print it also so perfect and I can't wait to wear this with a bomber or leather jacket this fall for a totally different vibe of the dress.

Quick funny story about the shoes:

I decided to only bring 3 pairs of shoes with me on the trip : sneakers to travel in; heels to go out in; and flats to go to brunch and the river in.

Well, the flats were somehow lost in said river and never made it to brunch.

I also managed to get one of the biggest blisters ever on my big toe from wearing these heels the night before so I basically walked around all day like a slug.

My oh my how summer if flying by!  <-- I did not mean for that to rhyme...

This past weekend I headed down to Virginia Beach to celebrate my coworker tying the knot.

Earlier in the day, I began to get nervous a little bit because despite the fact that a friend and I left my area near DC around 8AM, we almost ran late for this 5:30PM wedding.

If you're not familiar with the wonderful Interstate 95 consider yourself lucky.

While I have had pretty good luck the last few times I've jumped on that particular, luck was not on my side Saturday morning.

The normal 3.5 / 4 hour drive turned into a closer to 6 hour drive. 

Yes. Ouch.

Needless to say, I was a little tired (no time to nap!) and had to immediately get ready once we arrived at our hotel.

Luckily, and not surprisingly, I completely forgot about the almost debacle from earlier in the day once the ceremony started.

This past weekend I went to my last wedding of the year and it is funny how I have begun to measure my summers by the number of weddings I have attended.

This particular wedding was for a coworker that I've known and have been working with for the past few years.

It was such a beautiful wedding on the water in Virginia Beach and the weather was actually perfect which just added to the great day.

I was so thankful to witness the lovely couple commit themselves to each other.

About the look:

Not sure why I am on a I-want-to-wear-black-to-a-wedding kick but I am.

This is the third wedding I've worn a black dress to in less than a year and the second within the last month.

Even though black is usually reserved as a color option for a wedding in cooler weather, it is still totally acceptable to wear for a summer wedding.

This fun Milly dress has such a fun and flattering fit that despite the dark color choice it is a great summer wedding outfit option.

Movode Reveal.

I am so excited to share the final photos from my portrait session with Movode!

I talked about the first part of my Movode experience here before my "reveal".

After my shoot with Mahmoud and Christina, they scheduled a time for me to return about

two weeks later to reveal the final product.

I had an awesome shoot with Mahmoud, so the wait felt like forever but I was really excited to 

see which outfits and poses would make the final cut.

When I went in for the reveal day, I was greeted by Mahmoud and Christina 

and we caught up since our last meeting.

I was anxious to see the photos so after a few minutes of talking Mahmoud and Christina walked me over to the reveal wall where they had my final 10 images covered with white paper waiting for my approval.

They had me cover my eyes and then open them on the count of three.

...one...

...two...

...three...

I honestly was blown away by the final images.

Everything turned out better than I imagined that it was hard to decide what pieces/pieces to take home.

Once I saw all the final images, it was time to sit down and decide what I wanted to take home.

That was the hardest part!

I am currently in a house with terrible wood paneling walls so it was a little hard to envision a photo hanging or how it would fit with my other artwork.

I sat there going back and forth on images and possible purchasing something to hang but I literally could not decide.
