EVENT: Memorial Day Eve at the W Hotel DC

This weekend, I am heading to one of the best spots in DC - POV at the W Hotel.
POV is the rooftop bar at the W hotel, is next to The White House and has the BEST view of the Washington Monument in the city while being able to sip on champagne.

I normally stay in the city during holiday weekends but stay pretty low-key in terms of my plans, so I am excited to celebrate with a few of my friends who have decided to not venture to the beach either. at such an awesome place.

With this last minute event plans, I am leaning towards heading to the Rent The Runway store in Georgetown to grab something.

I am leaning towards wearing an all white ensemble here are a few of my dresses/rompers I am using as inspiration:

Tickets and tables are still available for Sunday - will I see you there??

It is really hard to believe that Memorial Day weekend is finally here.
The weather has made it seem that any season but summer is upon us but here we are and finally the sun is shining here in the DC area.

Laying by the pool is not at the top of my to-do list this weekend but being outside and enjoying this long weekend is.
After chatting with my roommates about potential plans for this holiday, we thought it would be fun to throw a last minute get together in our little backyard so we can enjoy the finally nice weather but also hang out with friends.

How to create last minute invitations with Paperless Post A.Viza Style

As I have gotten older, I like things to feel a little bit more put together (though they normally are not) and that includes invitations to a small get together, dinner or party.
This isn't my first time using Paperless Post either - I created a surprise birthday party invitations for my sister a few years ago.

For this weekend, I went with a premade template that all I had to do was make a few changes to and it would be ready to send out.
Honestly, it is so easy to create something so pretty and put together within minutes.

I found a few drink and food ideas to assist inspire me, and hopefully you, for a filling Memorial Day weekend.

Make sure to follow me on Snapchat (@avizacard) to see how it turns out.
Enjoy the weekend!

FabFitFun Spring 2016 box review

When FabFitFun reached out to me regarding reviewing their April box I jumped at the opportunity.
I have heard of many monthly/quarterly subscription boxes but have never really jumped onto any one wagon.
I may be a late adopter to the subscription box game but I really liked how all the items in this box are so diverse.
(fun fact: each box is a guaranteed value of at least $200)

FabFitFun provides a monthly subscription box with various products to fashion, beauty, home products.
I was genuinely shocked at how many products and coupons that I received.
Some of my favorites include:

One of my favorite products was the Marrakesh Argan & Hemp Oil.
I have used it a few times and it really has made the all the difference in the texture of my hair.
It smooths and adds shine which, for my naturally coarse hair that I use heat on pretty frequently, really appreciates.

I actually have very rough feet (I’m too ticklish for pedicures!) so I thought that using the provided socks and gloves after showering would provided the best results.  I was definitely  correct.
After 20 minutes with both of them on both my hands and feet felt very nourished and looked so much healthier.

The HelloLeg Lotion has become a quick favorite of mine as well.
It is a super thick lotion with not much shine but deeply moisturizes the skin.

Finally, this gold necklace is just so perfect.
I love how delicate it is and matches with everything especially my gold elephant necklace I wear daily.

A.Viza Travel | Shepherdstown, WV

What to see when Visiting Shepherdstown, WV | A. Viza Style
Last weekend I took a day trip with my mom to Shepherdstown, WV.
I am from a small town right outside of Northern Virginia close to the West Virginia border but had never wandered the 25 or so miles to Shepherdstown before.
I love discovering new places that are quirky and unique and that is totally what I found in .

Shepherdstown is full of so much rich history, the town predates the Revolutionary war, great architecture, and the cutest shops and restaurants.

I had such a great time just roaming in and out of stores and just taking in everything and meeting of the friendly local business owners .

We planned on eating lunch at The Blue Moon Cafe but had a few hours until they opened so that gave my mom and I ample time to explore the charming town.

We  started with a little “pre-brunch” at a local bakery where we grabbed a traditional German pastry and some coffees.
The coffee was so-so but the pastry was really tasty and the perfect amount for my mom and I to split and hold us over until we were ready for lunch.

After we finished our pastry, we hit the shops.
The collection of cute shops is amazing and all had the perfect signage to boot.

We visited an a knick-knack store that had a little bit of everything.
My mom almost snagged some mason jar champagne flutes but I told her she probably didn’t need them.
I almost walked out with a few local prints of the area.

The Four Seasons book store was two levels - level one held new release books and the second floor held all used books.  They had some great art books (my favorite to collect) that I had to talk myself out of a few purchases.

My favorite shop was On The Wings of Dream.
This was the coolest store with tons of jewelry, crystals, and various other gifts.
I ended up walking away with a beautiful sterling silver green stoned ring.
I can never have enough rings.

The Blue Moon Café was so cute. You are able to sit outdoors in a great green outdoor setting.
I ordered the quiche of the day (feta & spinach - it was uh-mazing) and my mom ordered one of their many salads to choose form.
Besides the awesome food and scenery, the Blue Moon Café also lists where their products actively are sourced from.
All in all it was a great little morning I got to spend with my mom.
I can't wait to make it back to explore a little more.

the jacket & the hat.

How to Style A Straw Boater Hat | A.Viza Style | jcrew hat - GAP jean jacket - loft shift dress - jcrew slides - rayban round sunglasses - casual summer style

My mom and I headed to Shepherdstown, WV a few weekends ago the weather was cool and sunny for our quaint stroll.

This straw hat I scored at my local J.Crew at the end of last season on major sale.
Sales on top of sales are kind of my jam.
Anyways, I've only had about two chances to wear it since I made the purchase last year so I thought walking around this quaint little town would be just as good of an excuse as any.

I found this dress I randomly at Loft a few months back on the sale rack.
It's actually a beach cover-up but the fun print and thicker fabric makes it easy for it to go back and forth between beach and streets.
I believe Loft only sold exact dress (which is actually an off the shoulder dress) online because I never saw it in stores.

It was a little chilly with the breeze so my trusty GAP jean jacket added warmth and structure to the outfit.
I am all about ease and very into just throwing a jacket over a dress or skirt these days.

This outfit in general was very easy to wear and walk around in for a few hours exploring a new town.

The weather has been a little wacky in Virginia recently.
As we are slowly creeping into June, unseasonably cooler temperatures and rain (a lot of rain) has been dominating our forecasts.
The main reason I am even bringing it up here is because honestly, it is what anyone can talk about with almost 2 consecutive weeks of rain!
Though this gloomy weather has been dominating our the sky's, the sun has started to peek through.

This outfit is something that is perfect for my brunching habit once the temperatures become a little bit more reliant and steady.
This top I snagged at a Shopbop sale last year and it has been faithfully sitting in my closet.
Since I am more towards a bustier girl, the off the shoulder trend is a little hard for me to get on board with/finding a top that is flattering is hard for me.
I am not normally into frills but in this case I totally thinks it works.
The top is cut a bit shorter than I normally would feel comfortable wearing but that’s what fashion is about right? Stepping outside of your comfort zone.

These black Current/Elliot high waist Stiletto jeans are perfect for showing a little skin.
The fabric is stretchy so they keep their shape throughout that day and the high rise is perfect to show just enough skin with a crop top.

I have also been wearing these Joie heels pretty constantly.
Honestly, I have been eyeing them since last summer. I am the pickiest when it comes to wedges and espadrilles so when I spotted them in the nude color I fell in love. Sadly, the nude color sold out almost instantly but I kept seeing the black version available.
I decided to take the plunge and honestly love the black a little bit more.
I have been wearing them with everything – jeans, dresses, pajamas (kidding) – they really go with everything.

This past weekend I had my 10 year high school reunion.
I would throw in a joke about how I know I look too young for that but you all might mistake me for being narcissistic so I'll refrain...
BUT it really was so crazy to think I graduated 10 years ago!

I have such vivid memories with specific people that really seem like a month or so ago so it was a weird experience to reconnect with these people I had grown up with
but never stayed in touch with.
Most are married or have/are having kids so it is very interesting to see what 10 years has changed for different people.
I did go to a fairly small high school (my graduating class was 177) so I was also shocked at how many people I forgot about.

Let me mention that I did have a totally different outfit in mind but when I realized the reunion was being held in a barn in the middle of my county I ran to the nearest mall (20 minutes away) for a more casual outfit.

But lets talk about this scarf shall we?
I have a few cotton scarves I don't wear entirely too much but ever since the scarf trend I knew I needed a silk one (obviously because cotton just wont do...)
I have been stalking silk scarves and really loved this one from Ann Taylor.
It was on sale plus an extra discount which made it super affordable.

I like styling silk scarves with a casual look so it really "elevates" it and
gives the outfit a more interesting pop.
Have you jumped on the silk scarf bandwagon yet??

How to style a classic button down | A.Viza Style | Loft white jeans - banana republic button down - banana republic fringe orange heels - office style
| top: c/o banana republic jeansloft | heels: c/o banana republic | sunnies: rayban |

Finding great fitting button downs is a task when you're a woman.
A button down is probably my favorite style of shirt but it not the easiest task to
find a great fitting one.

Normally, I find they are either too baggy or the fit is just a bit off.
I was pleasantly surprised when I received this one in the mail last week.
I love stripes but really love vertical stripes and this one fits so well.
One of the things that I like most about this top (minus the fabric) that it is so easy to
dress up or down.

I can easily take this outfit and make it work appropriate.
I just need to throw a blazer on and a closed toe pump and be ready for a day at the office.

Style Tip: If you are trying to find a fitted button down, make sure there is darting in the back of the shirt (basically a sewn in crease) in the back. Darts give a top a more fitted/feminine look.
Banana Republic has been so good lately.

Now, on to these heels - how awesome are they?!
Banana Republic has been killing it in almost every department recently but their shoe selection has been just too good and these heels are no exception.
You all know I am a shoe addict so when I opened the shoe box I was soooo excited.
The color - The fringe - The heel height = P E R F E C T <insert skull emoji>

I am really into the color which is a fun orange pop of color that is a little out of the box for me.
I am also in love with the fringe leaf texture of the shoe.
It is definitely a unique look from the other strappy sandals I've been seeing this season
They will definitely be in my heel rotation this summer.

Brunch Review: Commune - Virginia Beach, VA

I am going to start by saying :
Goat.cheese.grilled.cheese.
I was in Virginia Beach a few weeks ago and decided to get brunch with a sorority sister of mine.
I didn’t know of any places to suggest but luckily she suggest Commune.
Once I looked at the menu I was very very excited.
Commune is all about local homemade food that is farm fresh.
If you look at their website you can see exactly where they source all their products.
I love a company that is transparent especially in the food industry.
Delicious doesn’t really describe the food accurately; it is just so much more than that.
We decided to order two entrees and split them because neither of us could actually just pick one thing that we wanted.
Everything on the menu just looked so good.
I had originally decided on a different dish (a traditional ham and cheese crepe) but then I saw the Goat Cheese Grilled Cheese : game over.
Fact about me: if I ever spot anything with goat cheese on any menu, I normally get that dish. I just love goat cheese!
So finally decided to split the Goat Cheese Grilled Cheese and the Crouqe Madame Stuffed Belgian Waffle.
I am completely obsessed with this sandwich.
The mix of the cheese and the prosciutto was a great mix of salty and sweet.
The Crouqe Madame Stuffed Belgian Waffle was filled with fresh ham topped with hollandaise sauce and an egg over easy.
This was honestly one of my favorite meals I’ve had in awhile.
I don’t know when I will be able to make it back so now I am just on the hunt for some great substitutes in DC.
