Layering doesn't normally come to mind during summer weather but this year the weather in Northern Virginia being a bit unpredictable. With 70's one day and then 95+ the next,
you really never know what you're going get.
On another note, breaking out my denim vest has my counting down the days until slightly cooler (and less humid!) weather.

This is my most worn event outfit this summer. A bridal shower, a date night, drinks with friends, I legit have worn it everywhere.
The pleats of the skirt are feminine, the length of the skirt hits right above the knee which makes it perfect for my 5'4" frame, and where the waist hits makes it pretty modest for skin exposure with a crop top. I love adding these multi-colored stacked heeled sandals for something a little different but they still go with my neutral color palette. What are your summer go-to outfits? shop similar pieces below:
Whether you opt for flip flops of flat sandals, you should have a nicer pair of summer sandals somewhere in your closet.
This nicer option will get you through those lazy weekday mornings where you don't feel like wearing your heels or those last backdoor BBQ's with 95 degree weather.
I suggest going for a higher quality classic styled shoe so they will last a few seasons and won't show too much wear.
And just because I say higher quality doesn't mean I mean higher price...
So sorry for the absence guys, I promise I am back on the blog wagon!
This outfit is what I wore to the RSMasterClass a few weeks ago in DC.
I got the chance to meet a few new ladies and learn some new blogging tips and tricks.
The summer here in DC has been a little crazy and cooler than usual which made this faux leather skirt totally summer appropriate.
What I am loving about this outfit:
1. The heels that add a fun neutral pop. The stacked heel makes them super comfortable but still more fun than a normal solid brown heels/wedge.
2. This shell top. I eyed it for awhile at Loftand when they had it marked down to 50% off a few weeks ago, I had to snag it.
3. My sunglasses. I picked these up while in Las Vegas last weekend at Urban Outfitters and am so glad I did. I have been eyeing theRayBan "Clubmaster" but haven't been able to pull the trigger since they are $160. These lovelies are under $20and are great alternate.
