spring trend 2015 : the shirtdress.

Shirtdresses are everywhere this season and it is easy to see why.
They are so easy to throw on, dress up or down, and still look chic.  I love this color blocked one from ASOS.  It is slightly different than all the other versions I have seen in most stores and fits a little more snug so you don't need a belt.
I can't wait to wear this number when there isn't snow on the ground!

2 simple tips to styling a shirtdress:
1.  Wear a belt to accentuate your waist.
2. Throw a blazer over it to make it office ready.

spring trend 2015 : gingham

So for the next few posts, I will be sharing some spring trends that I think you should try.

First one up : gingham! 

I love the print because I am a stripe addict and this is always a go-to a summer variation of that.
I love the length and fullness of this dress as well as the cut of the back (not shown here because it was way to chilly to take off my jacket), oh and did I mention it is on sale?!
Gingham is easy to add to any spring and summer outfit and dresses are my favorite way to incorporate the trend.

rehearsal.

This is the dress that I wore to my sister's rehearsal dinner.  
I loved the back opening of the dress and how it felt like 2 pieces but really was 1.
The loose fit of the dress helped me get buy with consuming every piece of my three course meal.

spring stroll.

The weather has been amazing and I am so excited to finally swap my heavy winter jacket for my spring/fall anorak.  This past Sunday was beautiful but very windy so I made sure to layer up and I broke out some of my favorite springs pieces that had been hibernating all winter.
Casual sneakers, distressed denim, and a classic denim vest are some of my go-to pieces (together or separate!) for warmer weather and perfect spring layering.

bridal brunch.

As I stated in my last post, I was in Lynchburg all weekend celebrating my sister getting married.  The weather was less than ideal on Friday and most of Saturday but that didn't stop us from having fun and enjoying the moment.

It was a busy weekend that is leaving me still catching up on sleep, however I am still so happy with all the quality time I was able to spend with family.

This was the outfit I wore for a casual bridal brunch on Friday before the rehearsal dinner.

A wonderful friend of my sister's offered to host us in a beautiful home that overlooked all of Lynchburg.  We ate, we laughed, and shared funny stories.  I wanted to be girly but nothing too crazy or formal so I opted for my faux leather jacket (which I force to go with everything) and this girly pleated J.Crew skirt.  

Since the weather was warmer, but still not too warm it was the perfect outfit.

casual bridal shower.

The last weekend in February, I hosted a bridal shower along with another bridesmaid for my sister, Olivia, who is getting married this Saturday.

The party planning process was smooth and the end result was perfect.
It was a great intimate party for family and close friends that held a lot of laughs and story telling.  This was the outfit I decided to wait last minute due to the frigid high of 20 degree weather.

Now, with all the showers and parties behind us, we are in the final countdown until the Big Day (2 days!).
I will be heading down to Lynchburg, VA to help celebrate the nuptials with my sister and her sweet fiancé, so be sure to follow on Instagram.

in with the new.

So welcome to my new site!  
This has been a long time coming and I hope you like my new and improved piece of internet.
Like I stated at the end of 2014, I am excited to add some new elements to this blog and the name & site change was the first step.
Since the weather is warming up, you can be sure I will be back to regular outfit posting as well as expanding on what I share with you all.

With a new blog comes a new haircut (obviously).
It has been about 3 weeks since my haircut at Immortal Beloved (first cut seen here) with Lianna and I am obsessed.
This is the shortest I have ever had my hair and while I am still trying to figure out my default way to style it, I am completely in love with it.
If you have any tips styling tips or products you use I would love and suggestions :)
